P+FC/Interboro Institute

With over 35,000 students spread out over five boroughs, Interboro Institute has become one of New York City's fastest growing private colleges. The program for the Admissions Department included a reception area, testing space, and counseling offices to be located in a 4,000 SF penthouse floor in mid-town. P+FC minimized finished surfaces by pulling interior partitions in from the exterior walls and preserving the majority of raw concrete floor and ceiling surfaces. Panoramic views of mid-town are available from almost any space on the floor and circulation is controlled by a skewed wall of luminous electric-blue polycarbonate that leads visitors directly from the elevators into a reception/lounge where they may experience videos on multiple screens while waiting to be tested or advised by counselors in private cubicles.
