The new studio highlights the longitudinal axis of the space and adjacent streets. A central bookcase "spine," containing power and telecommunications wiring, links a common work area with private conference spaces at either end. Flat and curved semi-opaque screens guide circulation across and through the spine and separate activities. The vertical placement and horizontal spacing of fluorescent fixtures continue the rhythm of the circulation and reflect off one wall. Incandescent and halogen fixtures on the central spine supplement the longitudinal reflector wall. Large, free-standing horizontal work surfaces located in the common areas encourage maximum interaction and participation by the diverse staff.
