Illuminating Experience’s new exhibit evokes a contemporary “pavilion in the park” theme for displaying IE’s latest European designed light fixtures. A giant pair of aluminum scissors floating above four perforated aluminum cylinders set in a field of black floor tiles. Visitors enter to discover a series of paneled aluminum “stems” suspended from the interlaced beams above that contain clusters of ruby-red panels for displaying groups or individual fixtures. Ceiling fixtures, supported directly from the beams and from modular aluminum mesh panels positioned above the beams, are interspersed among the panels and visitors are encouraged to wander about and rotate panels to view fixtures from all angles. Gaps purposely left between light fixture panels ensure continuous interaction between sales representatives and potential customers and offer glimpses of products on adjacent panels. A black modular counter located at one end of the floor with a built-in desktop and storage for manufacturers’ literature also serves to display desk and table mounted fixtures.
